WHAT YOU NEED FOR YOUR HOME BAR

Shaker

There are two main types of shakers that are used at home.

We suggest one of these two:

A two-piece Boston Shaker

A three-piece Cobbler Shaker

Which you use is entirely up to you, we prefer the Boston Shaker, but if you like the Cobbler style or you already have one at home, please use that one.

Jigger

There are a number of ways to measure out your spirits. The easiest and most professional way is to use a two-sided jigger. We prefer the kind that  comes in the 1oz/2oz cups.

Our Suggestions:

Japanese Style Jigger

Bell Style Jigger

Cocktail Spoon

This is a long, thin spoon used for stirring spirit-forward cocktails. This is always good to have at home, but a normal spoon, a swizzlestick, or even a  chopstick will get the job done in a pinch.

Our Suggestions:

HIWARE LZS13B 12 Inches Stainless Steel Mixing Spoon, Spiral Pattern Bar Cocktail Shaker Spoon

Strainer

If you’re using a Cobbler Shaker, it has a built in strainer. If you want to use a Boston Shaker, we would suggest getting a Hawthorne Strainer.

Our Suggestions:

Our go-to Hawthorne Strainer

If you’re buying your first, you want one with a really tightly wound  spring. This will not only catch big chunks of ice, but also help to catch the  really small ice shards that tend to show up in shaken drinks. If you’ve  ever gotten a martini with ice chips in it, it’s because they didn’t use a very  good strainer. (They also shook it, but that’s a discussion for another time).

Buy In A Kit

A lot of these items can be purchased as a kit. These are two solid options if you like getting everything bundled.

Our Suggestions:

A smaller at-home bar kit

A larger at-home bar kit

Fine Mesh Strainer

The only real way to make sure no tiny ice chips end up in your finished cocktail. We use one of these all the time!

Our Suggestion:

• Cocktail Kingdom Fine Mesh Strainer

Citrus Juicer

Many of you will already have this at home, but it’s the best way to get  juice from fresh citrus. Otherwise you have to squeeze them by hand, which is a pain.

Our Suggestion:

OXO Good Grips Citrus Squeezer

Citrus Peeler

Getting a good citrus twist can really make a cocktail. You might already  have a good peeler at home. If not, and you don’t want to buy a new one, you can use a knife.

Our Suggestion:

OXO Good Grips Y Citrus Peeler

Small Squeeze Bottles

These are super useful to keep simple syrups and pre-squeezed juices in. It makes making your cocktails much easier!

Here's a set of two squeeze bottles
